A Wonderful Weekend

My parents arrived home from their trip to Queensland last week and were keen (read unsubtle in their wondering when we would be lighting the oven again) to have a pizza cooked in the wood oven. So since the weather Friday was predicted to be warm we started the weekend with this.

Once the pizzas were finished Garry was determined to get the bread baking right.  He had made a sourdough starter earlier in the week and yay - we had success - delicious!

Then there was a bit of this

Rachel gave Garry a wonderful father’s day present of a wooden board that she made at school, for using when we make pizzas.  She made it all by hand and did a fantastic job.  She had some timber left so Garry and her had some father daughter time, this time making another board with the use of power tools

She wasn’t too keen on the jigsaw, but did conceed it was much quicker.

I did lot’s of prep for a new QFD project - this is one colourway of three.  I can’t decide which I prefer the most.  I’ll tell you more about that in a day or two when it’s more than a pile.  And I love Sewline Glue Pens - so much time saved.

Then this afternoon the oven was fired up again for a roast lamb dinner.  But we couldn’t light the fire just for a roast so more bread was made.

This time baguettes.  On hearing we were lighting the oven again Dad brought his batch of bread over to cook as well.  I think we have the hang of this bread cooking now - not a burnt crust in sight.

We did a trade with Dad, he took some baguettes for him and Mum and we kept a sandwich loaf for us.

Oh and the roast was absolutely delicious.

I hope you too enjoyed a wonderful weekend.
