I'm Back

A few weeks ago I remember saying to Garry that I would like nothing more but to curl up on the couch with a book, but I had so much to do and couldn’t. Certainly that seems to have been one of those careful what you wish for statements, because that is all I have done for the last week. Went and got a little melodramtic with the second doctor I saw sending me off to hospital for more tests. The less said about the first doctor the better, will be making sure none of us see him again. Fortunately they were able to work out what was going on and I think I am finally starting to feel better.

So I am back, but taking lots of breaks on the couch.

QFD’s 6th Birthday was on the 19th of May and I had big plans to celebrate with you all. So stay tuned, I’ll reschedule that when I have caught up.

I will get a few orders out today, but probably will not catch up until the weekend when I have Garry and Vanessa around to run up and down the ladder for me and lug bolts of fabric around. Maybe even by then I will have my breath back and letting them know what I need done will not be such hard work.

I have to say I feel for anyone with an ongoing chronic illness, even with Medicare, the ongoing costs must be crippling.

So once again, take care of yourselves. If you have a cold, stop and rest and listen to your body.

All that time off and not one stitch made, oh what a waste!

Sick Leave

Just wanted to let you all know that I am currently on sick leave.

One of the downsides of owning and working in your own business, without staff is that there is no one to pick up the slack when you are away. So I have to ask your patience with any delays getting orders and Block of the Months posted, answering phone calls and emails until I am up and about again. With Garry and the girls help we caught up to Friday’s orders, but there will be a delay in orders placed over the weekend and Block of the Months as Garry has had to go back to his day job and the girls to school.

Not sure what I have, but it started with a cold. So take my advice (which I obviously didn’t take) - if you feel sick take time off and look after yourself, otherwise it may just take longer to shake off.

So that’s my energy about gone and I’m heading back to the couch.

Book Search Help

A Work in Progress - By My Hand Quilt

A little while ago I showed you this. Susan was over on the weekend to choose the final fabrics for this beautiful quilt. While she was laying out I had to peek over her shoulder with the camera. So excuse the creases and floating threads, I just had the share with you how it is progressing.

I love all of those gorgeous letters.

Now that we have finished choosing fabrics I will have to start working out the pricing and cutting requirements, so my question is this. Would you prefer to purchase a kit for the full kit in one go or would you prefer a block of the month?

Bella Solids Club

I am so excited about this newest club - The Bella Solids Club. We will be starting this one on the Monday the 14th of May 2012. This will be a twelve (12) month club and you can choose from fat eighths, fat quarters or half metre bundles of six delicious Bella Solid fabrics.

I have been playing with these since they arrived recently, it is so exciting to see which print fabrics they work with as well as how good they look together or how adding just one of these solids to a bundle of fabrics will give that bundle such a lift.

As well as receiving the fabrics you will receive a set of little card each month with a sample of each the fabrics, the fabric name and colour code. So you will have your own little Bella Solids Library and when you would like more you will know exactly what to order. Of course you will also have your Quilt Fabric Delights Club Member card and be able to enjoy a 10% discount when you order more Bella Solids.

Another Handy Hussif

You might remember this one that I made with my applecore sample from my trip up to Sue Daley’s in February.

I loved both the technique of paper piecing applecores and the finished project, so couldn’t help myself but to make another. This time in bright fabrics.

I finished it off with a self-cover button.

Such a fun project and really useful too! I keep my sewing tools in the first one I made. I think this one might disappear into Vanessa’s room once I give the okay that it is no longer needed as sample.

If you would like a kit for this one you will find it here. I have added a charm pack of the Old New 30’s fabrics for this kit and you will have some leftover fabrics. You can see how Vanessa used the fabrics I had left over here.

Of course if you would like different fabrics just ask me. I have a few other charm squares that are yet to make there way onto the website and would be happy to put something together for you.

New Patterns from Melissa Grant of One Day in May

Melissa has released two beautiful new patterns. The first one is A Doily for Bessie

and the second one is A Doily for Annabelle.

While I love them in the colours Melissa has chosen, I am tempted to make set to go with the Latte Delight Table Runner I recently made in black and white.

Naomi's Little Carry Bag

This sweet little bag is another of the Creative Cards from Rosalie Quinlan. It’s called Naomi’s Little Carry Bag.

Everytime I have the Sunny Happy Skies fabrics out to cut an order or Vanessa walks past them, her comment was ‘I just love those fabrics’, ‘you should make something out of them Mum’. I have to admit to having a soft spot for these fabrics too, so here it is.

Vanessa loves it and is using it has her project bag.
