Christmas in July
I know, I know it's no where near Christmas! Here in Australia we celebrate Christmas when it is the height of summer, but I for one, would love to one day experience a White Christmas. While we celebrate Christmas in summer, many Australians have a British heritage and continue to celebrate as our ancestors did. My mother was born and raised in England and moved to Australia in her twenties. Mum loves Christmas and to this day we celebrate with a traditional English meal. So regardless of what the temperature is we celebrate with my family with a hot turkey dinner and plum pudding.
But what has all that got to do with Christmas in July I can hear you asking, well some Australians also enjoy the foods of Christmas in July when the weather is more appropriate. Then when talking with some of the lovely ladies who came to Inspired Stitches this year and asking what they would like for future Inspired Stitches, one lovely lady (thanks Sue) suggested a Christmas theme. Then I thought that I didn't want to wait until next year and I really wanted to put on an event that everyone could join, regardless of where they live.
Are you still with me? If so I am so excited to announce our first online stitching event.....

I have been fortunate to celebrate Christmas overseas on two occasions, in Brazil. While the food was quite different and my host family had some different traditions to our family, it was still hot.
For those of you in the northern hemisphere you can join us and experience what it would be like to celebrate Christmas when the weather is hot and the days are relaxed. Of course if you live in the southern hemisphere you can enjoy Christmas while the days are cool and the fire is crackling away.
The girls are stitching away on their fantastic projects, so come and join the QFD Creative Team and our guest designers Gail Pan, Janelle Wind, Natalie Lymer of Cinderberry Stitches and Natalie Ross and make a new project, meet new friends, chat, exchange traditions, be inspired and most of all have some fun.
Christmas in July will start on the 1st of July 2010 and will be held in a password protected area of this website. Some of you may have already had a sneaky peak of how it will look as I have been working on it. It's looking good if I say so myself.
So let's get together, make a new project or two and pretend that we are with each other celebrating Christmas.
