Stitching at the Waters Edge
Wow, what a rollercoaster the past month or two have been. I went away to Nowra to attend a stitching retreat with a view to relaxing and de-stressing a little. I did just that, but it has been flat out since and I haven't yet had a chance to share any of it with you.
So, Friday the 20th August saw me catching a plane to Sydney, where I met up with my sister Susan who had flown down from Brisbane, Natalie Ross, Rosalie Quinlan and Leanne Beasley. Kim had organised for us to travel down to Nowra by shuttle bus. Of course it was a very quiet trip down, not! Lots of chat.

We arrived at Waterslea late afternoon. Waterslea is the most amazing place to hold a stitching retreat, so calm and restful.
This is the view on the drive in, to the left is the beautiful Shoalhaven River.

I have to admit to being very excited to see a wombat grazing away on the side of the entrance road. Thought I was seeing things for a minute. But SandyN sent me a photograph that she took on the way home so I could prove to Vanessa and Rachel that I had really seen one. Thanks Sandy!
Stitching at the Waters Edge is held by Kim from Jukejemah Quilt Barn in Nowra. Kim and her wonderful team did an amazing job. Susan and I had such a lovely time, it is not often that the two of us have the opportunity to spend time together without any other responsibilities. Such a treat being the spoilt one and not have to worry about everything.
Of course there were beautiful table decorations

lovely stitching companions on our table, thank you all for being so welcoming.

I met the lovely SandyN in person (Christmas in July ladies, please meet SandyN)

along with her beautiful mother and aunt.
Of course there were wonderful projects, more beautiful views, lots of food, fun

and listening to this lady and the antics on her table, but you will need to read her blog to find out more.

Thank you Kim, I had a wonderful time. If you would like to go next year, I think Kim still has some places , Natalie Ross, Janelle Wind and Anni Downs will be teaching. I can highly recommend it. Wonder if I can organise another trip next year ....

oh and see up there in the collage the bundles of fabric, they are from Rosalie's new collection Sweet Broderie, and lucky, lucky me won a bundle and it came home with me. I fondle it daily, trying to decide what to make with it.... and isn't that half the fun? Sweet Broderie will be available from Quilt Fabric Delights sometime in October, so not long to wait.
So don't just think about it, go on, go to a retreat, they are so much fun.
