The Great Gingerbread Village Adventure

Vanessa and Rachel love to decorate a gingerbread house each Christmas.  This year, my sister Karen was already on holidays when the girls finished school for the year and finding herself at a bit of a loss of what to do (can you imagine!) so we invited her over to help the girls.  The plan to make and decorate one house soon turned into a plan to make a gingerbread village.  It kept them all busy for quite a few days.  First making the gingerbread.  Then there was the constructing and decorating and finally putting it all together to make the village.

We unveiled it on Christmas Eve when my family came for dinner.

There were lots of little details like Milly and Milo my sister Susan’s two dogs.

and some birds to represent Piar, Fin, Whiskey and Oscar

I tell you, you could get a sugar high just from walking past.

Then came the eating and it started looking like this…

I was still working while all the construction was going on so it was lovely to hear Vanessa and Rachel chatting away with their Auntie Karen, working it all out and having fun together.  Not sure if Karen will tell us when she is bored again though :)
